Wind Chill Add Mikey Lun as Coaching and Talent Consultant

The Minnesota Wind Chill has one of the league's longest-tenured and most respected coaching staffs, and it just got stronger with the addition of Mikey Lun as a coaching and talent consultant for the upcoming season.

“I've always admired the way that Minnesota's organization is run,” said Lun. “There's a grittiness to the team. It seems like they're always considered the underdog, but find a way to be super scrappy, and I can feel it come through the screen.”

Lun’s career is extensive, and he is one of the most sought-after coaches globally. For the first time, he joins a Minnesota team, coming back to where he grew up. Lun is from Rochester, MN, and has been connected with the Wind Chill’s Head Coach, Ben Feldman, since their club college days playing together in Madison.

“Mikey's perspective will be something that we can leverage and use in a way to get better,” said Feldman. “Mikey's also extremely connected. He's respected across the ultimate community. He helps keep our team and organization aware of potential talent opportunities, players, or individuals that we might want to be engaging with.”

Lun’s playing career began on a whim when he was attending Iowa State University. One of his friends loved the sport, wanted Lun to try out with him, and the rest is history. Lun played for the prestigious club program Johnny Bravo and worked up through the age classes to Johnny Encore and Johnny Walker as the years passed.

Lun’s coaching career began in 2010 when he took the reins of the University of Iowa’s women’s team, Saucy Nancy. During his time there, he led the team to national quarterfinals twice and a semifinal once.

A move to Colorado took him away from the head-coaching gig at Iowa, but he quickly picked up where he left off with Colorado Mamabird. Lun was a major reason that program built up and became a powerhouse in the college scene, and he stayed there for over a decade.

In 2022, he started coaching Johnny Bravo, and in his first year, he helped lead the team to a club national title. That same year, he co-head coached the inaugural season of the Colorado Apex (formerly Summit), helping the team reach Championship Weekend. Lun stayed involved with the Apex until 2025, but his role lessened each year.

In 2025, Lun’s prowess and knowledge caught attention worldwide. That year, he coached the TOKAY SuperTeam at the London Invite, where they beat Team USA. Shortly after, he was asked to coach the Czech mixed team at U24 Worlds and helped bring them to the quarterfinals.

Next, the head coach of the Mooncatchers, a Brussels-based team and one of the world's most prolific club teams today, asked Lun to join. The Mooncatchers won the championship at the EUCF World Cup tournament, and Lun is still involved with the team today. Not to mention, Lun was on the coaching staff at WUCC this year, helping his team reach the semifinals.

For the 2026 season, Lun stepped down from Johnny Bravo and the Apex, but joined Chicago Machine for the duration of the year and helped them earn a silver medal at Club Nationals. To wrap up his coaching resume, Lun is currently a U24 selection assistant for Team USA and will be helping with the German national team.

For the 2027 season, Lun will mostly work remotely with the Wind Chill, bringing an outside perspective to the esteemed professional program.

“I think that I am an innovator and a culture-first coach,” Lun said. “I've been known to push the envelope in terms of what teams are doing. I think that has been a huge reason why my teams have had success over the years.”

Lun says that coaches like Pep Guardiola, Steve Kerr, Gregg Popovich, Bill Walsh, and Phil Jackson have influenced his coaching style.

Throughout the offseason, Feldman will be looking to Lun to learn how other teams look at Minnesota and what they perceive as the Wind Chill’s biggest weaknesses. As they get into the spring, Lun will contribute strategic perspective and potential new strategies or concepts.

“We've been thinking more and more as a leadership group about the ability to bring in some fresh perspective to provide criticism or feedback of the things we're doing or perceived to be doing from the outside in,” said Feldman.

A coaching staff of Feldman, Carlos Lopez, and Max Longchamp, a trio that has led the Wind Chill to become one of the UFA's most dominant forces over the past five years, just got stronger.
