Rowan McDonnell was born and raised in Connecticut before moving to Norfolk, VA for college. After a year at ODU and Tidewater Community College, McDonnell took a year off school to play online poker. That only lasted 6 months, and he subsequently moved to Nicaragua for the rest of the year. McDonnell came home and finished college at Eastern CT State, found Ultimate through his brother's summer league and started playing quite a bit. He moved to Washington DC in 2015, and currently play Ultimate full time and run Excel Ultimate Academy.
