On Friday night, Boston Glory hosted New York in front of a record crowd of 1,179 ultimate-crazed fans at Hormel Stadium. Unfortunately, the team fell to the Empire for their first loss of 2026.

On Saturday, Glory fought the elements to pick up an important win on the road to improve to 6-1 on the season. Powered by a bounce-back defensive performance and an offensive masterclass by Orion Cable.

Boston was left searching for answers after a tough loss to the New York Empire. Glory had to find answers quickly on the road against the Philadelphia Phoenix on a back-to-back. Boston was able to answer these questions and get back in the direction they want to be heading in as we cross the midway point of the season.

One of the big takeaways from Boston’s game against New York was their inability to convert on the turn. Against Philadelphia, they were able to take advantage of those opportunities, converting on 6 of 19 break opportunities. Glory head coach Sam Rosenthal always likes to set the bar for a good performance on the turn at six goals, and Glory was able to hit that number against the Phoenix.

A key reason Boston’s O-line struggled against the Empire was turnovers. Glory also improved in that aspect, only committing 11 turnovers on the night. The offense looked much better; Glory were able to stay patient and play their game offensively. This led to easy chances and the ability to pick when they wanted to push the disc down the field.

Boston’s offense got to work right away and slowly moved the disc down the field into the red zone. From there, Thomas Edmonds found Orion Cable streaking across the front of the end zone to take a 1-0 lead.

Cable used his size to make himself an easy target when Boston got in the red zone all night, and it led to an impressive offensive night for him.

On the ensuing possession for Philadelphia, Roan Dunkerley got a block for Boston. The D-line immediately got to work pushing this disc downfield. The D-line was able to work the disc down the field until Cole Davis-Brand found Brendan McCann in the front corner of the end zone for a 2-0 Glory lead.

This is the kind of play Boston is looking for. Boston’s O-line scoring with slow, decisive passes, and then the D-line gets a stop and a score to put the offense back on the field. They were able to do this successfully all night.

Boston was able to gain a 3-2 advantage before a lightning delay extended the first quarter by 30 minutes. After the break, Boston quickly gained momentum when Tobe Decraene found Cable for his third score of the night in just the first quarter. Boston used that momentum to cruise to a 6-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Boston was facing a scrappy Phoenix team, who were playing the underdog role. Philadelphia had a good second quarter, battling back to make it 10-8 going into halftime. Boston was able to keep pace throughout the quarter in large part due to the offensive production of Cable, who scored or assisted on two of Boston’s four scores. Cable had four goals and one assist at the halfway mark.

Boston again started the half with an offensive score, followed by a score on the turn. The Decraene brothers are responsible for both scores, Tobe on offense and Lander cashing in on the break opportunity.

The Phoenix responded with back-to-back scores to crawl back into the game, making the score 12-10. Boston answered with back-to-back scores to make it 14-10.

Philadelphia would not go away, however, scoring three straight times. Back-to-back to end the third and then their first possession in the fourth quarter to come back within one score, making it 14-13.

This was the closest Philadelphia would come as Glory would extinguish the Phoenix, outscoring them 3-1 in the final 10 minutes of the game. Glory walked away with a 17-14 win to complete the season sweep of Philadelphia.

Tobe Decraene had a big game; the reigning MVP had six assists and found the end zone twice. Cable ended the game with five scores and one assist. The duo lead Glory to their sixth win of the season.

This Friday, June 12, Boston Glory will get a chance at a rematch against the New York Empire. This game will be a battle for the first spot in the East Division, as round two versus the Empire will be Glory’s most important game so far this season.
