CHICAGO — The Chicago Union have had a rough start to the 2026 season after two straight losses to the undefeated Minnesota Wind Chill. However, the Union took many positives from their home opener loss last week. The young team is optimistic for a rebound as they travel to Indianapolis on May 29th to face the AlleyCats. Both teams enter this contest with something to prove, as they each look to reassert themselves as playoff contenders in this still young season.
With many of their star players unavailable for the season opener in Minnesota it was not unexpected that the team struggled. In the home opener, however, improvements were seen on both sides of play. The offense was successful dictating the pace of play, finding gaps through the tight Minnesota defense and keeping the game close, while the defense often stymied their opponent, capitalizing on several Wind Chill turnovers.
To combat the AlleyCats, the Union defense will need to keep up the recent aggressive pace of play, as Indianapolis has a strong offensive style with quick handler motion and rapid decision-making. In their first game against the Madison Radicals, the AlleyCats fell by one point in an exciting 19-18 finish. However, Indianapolis did not fare as well against the Wind Chill, losing by a lopsided 21-13 margin.
Indianapolis will have the benefit of their home turf for the third straight game, but they have not yet been able to capitalize on this strategic advantage, and the Union are eager to stem their own early season losses and pick up their 100th win in program history.
The match-up will take place this Friday, May 29th, at 7:00 PM EST. You can catch the action live on WatchUFA.tv.
