The Chicago Union are looking to add a coach to our coaching staff for the upcoming UFA season.
We’re interested in hearing from people who love ultimate, enjoy working with players, and want to help build a competitive, positive, and connected team environment.
We’re intentionally keeping this opportunity open-ended. We’re not looking for one particular resume or trying to fit someone into a predetermined mold. Depending on the person, the role could include helping with practices and game preparation, offensive or defensive strategy, player development, scouting and film, or other areas where your experience and perspective can make an impact.
Who we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from people who:
- Have a strong understanding of ultimate and the UFA game
- Enjoy teaching, communicating, and working with athletes
- Bring thoughtful ideas about strategy and player development
- Can contribute positively to a collaborative coaching environment
- Are interested in helping players and the team continue to improve
- Share a commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming team environment
Previous coaching experience is valuable, but we’re not looking for a checklist of credentials. Playing experience, club or college coaching, youth coaching, strategy, analytics, player development, or other experience that you think would make you a good fit are all worth telling us about.
What the role looks like
We expect this person to work closely with the rest of the coaching staff throughout the season. The exact responsibilities can be shaped around the strengths and experience of the person we bring on.
That could mean helping:
- Plan and run practices
- Develop offensive or defensive systems
- Prepare for opponents and scout games
- Provide individual player feedback and development
- Analyze film and game data
- Make strategic adjustments during games
- Support the team on game days and throughout the season
- Build a positive, competitive, and enjoyable team culture
We’re open to different backgrounds and different ways of contributing. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of the Union and work collaboratively with our players and coaching staff.
Interested?
Send us a short note introducing yourself, telling us a little about your Ultimate and/or coaching background, and why you’re interested in working with the Union.
No formal ultimate resume or cover letter is necessary. We’d rather start with a conversation and get to know you.
Please send inquiries to info@gochicagounion.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
