The Carolina Flyers travel down to take on South Division rival Atlanta Hustle, Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on WatchUFA.tv. The Flyers are starting off their 2025 UFA regular season with a rematch of their 17-16 win in the 2024 South Division Championship game, which sent the Flyers to UFA Championship Weekend for the first time since 2022. In fact, the 2025 Flyers will be looking to do what the 2024 roster couldn’t, by just one point: win the UFA. 

But 2025 will be a very different than 2024. For starters, during the off season, the Carolina Flyers welcomed a new head coach, Michael Avila, and are entering a new era. Despite a change in leadership at the top however, much of the roster remains familiar, and the Flyers boast a lot of continuity between 2024 and 2025 as they look to return to the UFA Championship Game. There are just six Flyers rookies on this 2025 roster, meaning 33 rostered Flyers have experience as a part of this program. 

Coach Avila was incredibly excited for the season opener when asked, telling fans to look for familiar faces playing different roles than fans may be used to seeing from them, and to look for a different brand of ultimate between 2024 and 2025, despite the roster continuity present. In a first game home opener, Atlanta is sure to have just about their full roster available to play, while the Flyers will go on the road, in a hostile environment, against an opponent hungry to cleanse the bad taste in their mouth from last year’s playoff exit. It’ll be a tough match up for Carolina, but also an early opportunity to prove that they are once again in the league’s top tier of contenders.
